Medieval

In the 15th Century the earliest books of dance were produced in Italy around 1450, and our programme is based on these manuscripts, and later ones from Northern Europe. The Italian dances are light and flirty, reflecting life in the Italian Principalities at the time. By contrast the dances from northern Europe are slower and more stately, partly necessitated by the heavy clothing worn to counter the colder climate.
