Victorian

The dances of the Victorian era reflect a time when the British empire was at its height and the social scene was expanding to include the new wealth of the mill owners and merchants. The Waltz was now all the rage, and dances from Germany and Eastern Europe were also becoming popular, whilst the repertoire of English Country Dances had expanded to include many Scottish Country Dances, much loved by Queen Victoria.
